Do you have an experience when you were a kid to which you have eaten too much candies and sweets? The one to which you ate too much to the point that your belly hurts perhaps, making you feel sick a bit? If you do, then you know that it can be an unpleasant experience to overeat and something that can negatively affect your health. And with this in mind, the moment that you entered adulthood, you should start eating less and get away with this habit.

Well for sure, it is bad to not be able to eat enough as it can be associated with malnutrition and various eating disorders. This is true in several situations but there is a significant difference between eating less and enough, particularly in today’s time to which the world we lives in are moving in a fast pace and the foods accessible contain high calories. As a matter of fact, in countries similar to the US, eating too much regularly may contribute to all kinds of health issues today from heart disease, diabetes and the more notorious obesity, which are conditions that are reducing the quality of lives and life expectancy of people. As a matter of fact, there have been several studies which showed that it is possible to improve health, manage it effectively and at the same time, prolong our life, giving people enough reason to cut down on the portions of foods they are eating.

Being aware of hunger signals that the body send as we eat is an effective way that a person could achieve to eating less. The sad thing is that, most of us have just ignored these or perhaps, too involved with the distractions in life like TV, computer, smart phones and several other. The problem is, we are not eating when we are hungry and all too often, keep eating even when our body gets what it already needs.

In an effort to counter this, it can be quite useful in being aware of what you eat as this can help in boosting your levels of concentration, which then make it simpler to respond to signals that our body sends to our brain that then allows us to regulate our appetite.

Another effective way to eating less can be done via portion control. As a matter of fact, this means that you have to know the right sizes for single portions of foods to be eaten and then, stick to it every single meal. Using smaller plates, drinking water prior to every meal and the likes are effective and proven techniques to eating less which you should try.
